Sh@ring College Life Experiences - PART II

👋🏻 Everyone,

In this blog, sharing the first year experiences of college life

  • I have opted for a dual sharing room in the college hostel. During the few days, of my college, I have no clue about {what to do, when to do, where, how to do, why} to do?
  • So my daily routine in the college was to attend the lectures, make notes, and revise those concepts in the evening (if possible) in the hostel.
  • I haven’t spent my time in an e-learning course or anything else because I didn’t have any sort of knowledge about the same, literally, I didn’t know about the following apps during the first year of my engineering:
Apps Name: Quora, Medium, TechCrunch, Linkedin, Podcasts etc.
  • Literally, I was involved only in studies (learning only those things that have been taught in lectures), so my own contribution to learning new technologies and ideas was almost zero during the first year of my engineering.

In the end, the result was like this:

Learnings/Advice :

  • Percentage/GPA do matters during the screening round of interviews when you applied for the job ( either off-campus or on-campus).So do try to maintain a percentage above 75% in order to avoid any sort of rejection in the screening round on the basis of percentage.

  • But again the percentage only comes in the picture for screening afterward, everyone is standing in the same queue for the job. So after the screening round, technical knowledge and problem-solving skill is taken into consideration, without any consideration for the percentage criteria.

Do’s

  • Ask yourself a question?

    • Whether you literally want to make a career in engineering/doctor or any other profession. If yes, then it is awesome otherwise please reiterate your passions, and do try to mold your career towards our passion rather than someone else passion.
  • Strive to learn something new each and every day

    • It doesn’t mean your studies, it can be anything from the entertainment news, technical news, finance news, etc, on the basis of the interest. Just remind of

“A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step”

  • Irrespective of the branch of engineering or other profession, please do connect with the technology as soon as possible. Examples: During the first day of the college, you should start using the apps such as Quora, Medium, Blogs, Podcasts, Linkedin, etc. , avoid social media if possible (or restrict to specific time period only example: 1-2 hours)

No one will help you to achieve your goals, everyone will guide you. Please keep in mind. At last, you are the only one who will be working for converting your dreams into reality.

  • Start using educational websites and enroll yourself in some online courses on the basis of your interest. Example includes FreecodeCamp, Course-era, Udemy, Udacity, Cybrary, LinuxAcademy, Kaggle, Inc, Yourstory, W3schools, Bugcrowd, etc.
  • Rewards yourself by going to malls, amusement parks, etc for achieving a goal. For example: Plan an adventure trip with your friends, after you have finished a target of 3 courses along with their implementation ( if it is related to the computer science field etc. so on)
  • Do try to talk with your guardians at least once in a day.
  • Do find a source of internal motivation for yourself and restrict a specific part of the day for that source of motivation. (Example: Someone gets internal motivation by talking with parents, someone get by listening to songs(ritual, old songs or new songs).

Don’t

  • Everyone is capable enough to decide the things( or activities), that one should avoid.

Have a nice day !!!

Thanks for spending your precious time reading the post, but do me a favor if possible, if any of my connections do have any stories/experiences to share with their fellow, do share the experiences. It helps a lot for other members to avoid the mistakes that have been already committed by us.

Thanks & Regards
