ππ» Everyone,
In this blog, sharing the fourth-year experiences of college life.
Now, finally, in this post, I will be sharing the college life experiences during the fourth year of my college life (officially hmm but technically not), but especially for me, it was an amazing experience.
As soon as we make the transition from the 6th semester to the 7th semester, there are a lot of questions that come into the minds of college students. I will try to re-iterate those questions:
- How to get an internship?
- Now, finally, the placement season begins, so we need to learn aptitude, reasoning, and other kinds of stuff.
- Whether we should focus on the technologies or learn the basics of computer science subjects such as Data Structures, Algorithms, Computer Networks, Database, etc.
- No, we want to prepare for higher studies because a few friends are interested in this, but do I literally want to do it because they are doing it?
My answer to the above questions:
Do what you want to do, not what others want you to do.
Do try to align your goal with your passion always.
Yeah, by following these things, there will be many instances when you will be secluded, but donβt worry as long as youβre enjoying what youβre doing.
Now itβs about my fourth-year college life, so I will be sharing only some of the instances (not all):
- Got a 2-month remote internship in a cybersecurity startup (May 2018 - June 2018).
- Got a 2-month full-time internship in a CERT-impaneled organization (June 2018 - July 2018).
- Joined a full-time internship but left the internship in between because I was selected for the internship @Serverguy & Breeze.
- Internship: 2 months {June - July 2018}.
- Trainee: 4 months {August - December 2018}.
- FTE: 1 month {January 2019}.
Note: If youβre thinking about how I have done the full internship and job while being in college, then, in this case, please feel free to DM me.
Team @ServerGuy @Breeze (Our trip to Bir Billing):
But this trip was a roller-coaster ride for me because a 2-hour delay in the journey may have stopped me from giving the final semester exam (7th-semester exam).
Special thanks to Arun sir, Sahil sir, Zeeshan sir, Jaya Ma’am, and other members for all the support and guidance they provided me during my tenure @Serverguy & @Breeze.
- While all these things were going well, I got the opportunity to work in a company completely focused on cybersecurity. Literally, here I was more responsible for converting all my knowledge that I had learned during the past few months into implementing things from scratch.
Do’s:
- Start searching the internet during the 6th semester itself for various internships. There are a lot of platforms available for the same, for example: LinkedIn, Hirist, HackerRank, Hackathon, etc.
- Be specific about the fields in which you want to do the internship. Usually, what I have done is make an Excel sheet for finding the companies working in the domain, then moving ahead, I tried to contact the respective members for the internship application.
- Try some apps such as Meetup, Eventbrite, etc., which help a lot to be a part of like-minded people and provide ample opportunities.
- Donβt wait for the last minute for opportunities to knock on the door; just try to prepare beforehand.
Don’t:
- Nothing to add in this section because I think everyone has the capability to decide what is good or bad for them. (No conflicts, please.)
Have a nice day!!!
Thanks for spending your precious time reading the post. Do me a favor, if possible: if any of my connections have stories/experiences to share with their fellows, please share them. It helps a lot for other members to avoid mistakes that have already been committed by us.
Thanks & Regards,
